The SOS Children's Village was built on a property of 1,7 hectares in the district of Cerro Colorado, in the western part of Arequipa. It consists of 13 family houses, an SOS Kindergarten, a tailor's workshop and a carpenter's workshop. In these SOS workshops, the teenagers have the opportunity of learning a trade. A large part of the property is planted with fruit trees, partly for decorative purposes, but above all, to provide for the SOS Children's Village's own requirements. Chickens and other small animals are raised. There are schools in the immediate vicinity of the SOS Children's Village and also a church, both of which are attended by the children, thus providing good contact with the neighbourhood.
