Our Facilities
The work of SOS-Kinderdorf International in Azerbaijan started in 1997 when an agreement between SOS-Kinderdorf International and the government of Azerbaijan was signed. In 1998, the government donated a 4.5 hectares plot of land in Baku and on 20 July 1999 the foundation stone was officially laid. On the occasion of the start of the SOS mothers' training, a official ceremony took place in presence of representatives of SOS Azerbaijan and of the government of Azerbaijan as well as personalities of the city of Baku. The construction was completed in May 2000 and only a few weeks later the first families were able to move in. The official opening ceremony was held on 27 June 2001 in presence of the president and the secretary general of SOS-Kinderdorf International as well as numerous guests of honour.
