The SOS Children's Village Beau Bassin is situated in Rose Hill, a suburb of Beau Bassin, approx. 20 km of the capital Port Louis. It was erected on a gently sloping plot of land and its architecture is of typical Creole style. The SOS Children's Village consists of 15 family-houses, a kindergarten and two Youth Houses for boys and girls.
There are several good schools in the vicinity, which can be attended by our children. However, two classes for the benefit of SOS children, who had no opportunity to attend school before their admission, where established within the SOS Children's Village. Two experienced and meanwhile retired teachers help the children to catch up. Medical care is available at a State health centre in Beau-Bassin, whereas cases requiring specific treatment are referred to the State hospitals. The sports facilities are also open to the population of the neighbourhood. In June 2000, a library was inaugurated.
