A suitable, 3.8 hectares plot of land for the second Kyrgyz SOS Children's Village was found on the outskirts of Cholpon Ata at the northern shore of lake Issyk-Kul. In the vicinity of the SOS Children's Village there are apartment houses and shops and the children are able to attend the local school.
Construction work on the SOS Children's Village Cholpon Ata was completed in June 2002. It comprises twelve family houses, a house for the village director, an administrative building, a guesthouse and a garage. Additionally, a three-classroom SOS kindergarten for about 60 children exists. The multipurpose sports ground will be used for figure skating and hockey in winter and for baseball and football in summer; both SOS children and children from the vicinity will be able to meet there and spend their spare time together.
