In Concepción about 500 kilometres south of the capital Santiago de Chile, there are four SOS Children's Villages: Concepción, Bulnes, Chaimávida and Coyanco. The first SOS Children's Village, Concepción was inaugurated as early as in 1965 and consists of 13 family houses. It is situated on a hill in a district which is characterised by the low social status of its inhabitants. The SOS Children's Village disposes of an SOS Kindergarten where children from the neighbourhood are cared for, too. Next to the SOS Children's Village there are three primary schools, a secondary school and a first-aid station, as well as a supermarket and a fruit- and vegetable market.

Affiliated to the four SOS Children's Villages in Concepción are SOS Youth Houses for girls and for young men, a large SOS Vocational Training College, workshops for carpentry, handicrafts and motor mechanics, and other training facilities. A total of 1000 children and young people are cared for in these SOS Children's Villages.
