Our Facilities
SOS Children's Villages began its work in Costa Rica in the early seventies. In 1975 the first SOS Children's Village was erected in Dulce Nombre de Tres Ríos near the capital of San José.
During the following decades several facilities have been set up. There is the SOS Social Centre Casa Hogar Luz SOS Tres Ríos which was inaugurated in 1982 and is also situated in Dulce Nombre de Tres Ríos (mentally and physically handicapped children who have very little hope to be cured find a new home there), a second SOS Children's Village near the Atlantic port of Limón (the cornerstone was laid in 1997), and the International SOS College in Santa Ana, which is located 16 km southwest of the capital of San José.
The International College opened its doors in 2000. It offers a high-standard education and admits talented students from all over Latin America from age 13 to 18.
