Our Facilities
In March 1992 SOS-Kinderdorf International carried out a field survey in Estonia regarding facilities for children in need. The results were depressing: an inadequate social welfare system and cheerless children's homes. Only a few months later, a government agreement between SOS-Kinderdorf International and the Republic of Estonia was signed.
A suitable plot of land was found in Keila, about 30 km southwest of the capital Tallinn, and on 29 April 1993 the official cornerstone laying ceremony of the SOS Children's Village Keila took place. The first children moved into their new home in December 1994 and in March 1995 the construction work on the SOS Kindergarten and the SOS Primary School was completed.
In 1999 the first youth moved into the newly erected SOS Youth Facility, were they will stay during their vocational training or further education and will prepare themselves to an independent life under the guidance of their youth leaders. The facilities of SOS-Kinderdorf International in Estonia nationwide enjoy an excellent reputation.
