The SOS Children's Village of Florida is the third and, at the same time, the country's largest SOS Children's Village. Florida, a medium-sized town located about 100 km north of the capital of Montevideo, is widely known as a dairy centre.
The SOS Children's Village is situated on a 10 hectares site and comprises 15 family houses, a Village Director's and an SOS aunts' house, a Community House, a workshop for the Village Director, store rooms and sports facilities. A laundry, a tailor's shop, a doctor's surgery and a small shop are affiliated to the administrative building. The children attend the local schools in Florida which can be easily reached by city bus. Since the land is very fertile, part of it is used for farming.
