The SOS Children's Village of Freetown is situated outside the capital, on the main road between Lumley and the sea. Freetown, which has more than 300.000 inhabitants, is the country's cultural and industrial centre.
The SOS Children's Village of Freetown comprises 13 family houses, a house for the SOS mothers, an administrative building, a SOS Kindergarten, a transitional home and a SOS Youth Village for elder youths. The SOS Vocational Training and Production Center (Printing Press) is located next to the SOS Village. It enjoys an excellent reputation all over the country. The SOS Handicapped Home - which was built within the precincts of the SOS Village - accommodates 25 children/youths at the moment. It is the only facility of its kind for miles around. The Primary and Secondary School is located west of the SOS Children's Village.
