The SOS Children's Village Gracanica was constructed on a hill with a beautiful outlook over the provincial town of Gracanica which is located in the Northeast of Bosnia, approximately 200 kilometres from Sarajevo. Gracanica was famous for its artisans and was considered as the regional cultural centre until the beginning of the 20th century because of its 10 mosques and its numerous schools and libraries. Today there are 200 private enterprises and almost 1000 workshops in this town. The SOS Children's Village Gracanica comprises 12 family houses, the Village Director's house, one for the Village Master, an administrative building, a guest house and a house for the aunts.
