The third SOS Children's Village Huehuetoca has been set up near the capital of Mexico City after a terrible earthquake had hit the region in 1985. The beautiful town of Huehuetoca is an important historical place and has about 25,000 inhabitants. It is located in a fertile region at a distance of approximately 50 km from Mexico City.
The SOS Children's Village has been set up on an area of about 35,000 sq. m. and consists of the family houses, the house of the Village Director, a community house, an SOS Medical Care Centre and an SOS Vocational Training Centre for tailoring. The adjoining SOS Kindergarten is also attended by the children from the neighborhood. In addition to that, there is also an SOS Youth Facility, where the young people can prepare for independent life. The children attend public schools.
