In 2002 the total income of SOS Children's Villages UK rose by 25% to £1.58 million, thanks to the continued generous support of many individuals and organisations. |

Voluntary income rose by 31%. This includes the tax the charity is able to reclaim through Gift Aid, which increase the value of individual donations by 28%. The costs of management and administration stayed on the same level as 2001 - 3.5% of all expenditure. Investment in future income, fundraising and publicity was 18% of expenditure.

Expenditure worldwide
Worldwide in 2001, 60% of the total expenditure of SOS Children's Villages was used to build new SOS Children's Villages and to help cover the running costs of existing SOS Children's Villages and integrated youth facilities. A further 22% was used to finance SOS kindergartens, schools, vocational training centres, social centres, medical centres and emergency relief programmes.
General administration costs accounted for 5% of the total expenditure, and costs for fundraising and publicity were 13%.
