In Italy, SOS-Children's Village began its work in 1954 by setting up a holiday camp at Caldonazzo near the picturesque Caldonazzo lake in the Northern part of Italy. Children from different European SOS-Children's Villages are welcome to spend their holidays here and have lots of fun, adventure and also the chance of meeting SOS-children from other European SOS-Children's Villages.

In 1963 the Italian national SOS-Association was funded and shortly thereafter the first Italian SOS-Children's Village in Trento was built. Today, seven SOS- Children's Villages exist in Italy and a number of additional SOS-projects.
