A suitable plot of land was found in Luvenga, a suburb of the city of Kandalaksha (approx. 44,000 inhabitants), about 250 km south of Murmansk. It is situated in the south of the Kola peninsula, on the coast of the White Sea. The chosen land is very well integrated into the local community which is a typical workers district. Public schools and kindergartens are nearby.
About 90 children can find a new home within the twelve family houses. The SOS Children's Village Kandalaksha also comprises houses for the village director and the aunties, an administrative building, staff quarters, a garage and a workshop.
