The SOS Children's Village Khartoum comprises 14 family houses, an administrative building, a SOS Kindergarten and a small SOS clinic. In 1981, the construction of the SOS Primary and Secondary School was started in Suba, approximately 20 minutes away from the SOS Children's Village Khartoum. In 1995, eight classrooms were added to the building. The school now offers a complete primary and secondary education. Not far away from the SOS Children's Village Khartoum a SOS Youth Facility was erected in 1984 where SOS youths, supervised by a pedagogue, are prepared for living an independent life.
A piece of land was bought in 1989, situated at the banks of the Blue Nile, was bought for the construction of an SOS Farm. Today, mangoes oranges, papayas, lemons and all kinds of vegetables are grown there and cattle and chicken are also bred. During the Year of the Family 1995 the installation of a deep well with a pump and tank was carried out. Today, the well supplies 25,000 people with fresh water.
