The SOS Children's Village La Ceiba has been set up on a 24,4 hectare building site in the village of Aldea la Ruidosa, which is situated at a distance of 20 km from the town of Puerto La Ceiba.

In addition to the family houses and standard community facilities of an SOS Children's Village the SOS Children's Village La Ceiba includes an SOS Youth Facility (The older children from the SOS Children's Village move there, in order to prepare for independent life.), an SOS Medical Care Centre and an SOS Kindergarten, which offers educational therapy in its crèche, kindergarten and preschool. Later on, the children from the SOS Kindergarten attend a public school in the vicinity.
