In 1989, the sixth SOS Children's Village was opened at Ayala Alabang, which is a part of the capital Manila. The SOS Children's Village is situated only 10 minutes from a shopping area. Next to the SOS Children's Village there is a convent which operates a pre-school. This school is also attended by children from the SOS Children's Village. A housing complex for middle-class families was erected on one side of the SOS Children's Village, while several companies have put up their buildings on the other side.
Eight family houses and the necessary administrative buildings were constructed on a site measuring approximately 1.2 hectares. A small vegetable patch was laid out in the backyard of each family house. Older youths usually move to the SOS Youth House, where they can prepare for their independent lives during their vocational training or their studies. At the SOS Mother and Staff Training Centre, future SOS mothers, aunts and other staff are trained.
