The SOS Children's Village Mbalmayo was built in a little village called Ngallan, approximately one kilometre out of the centre of Mbalmayo (45 km from Yaoundé). The SOS Children's Village is surrounded by primeval forest vegetation typical of this latitude.

It comprises 11 family houses, a house for the Village Director, an administrative building, a multi-purpose hall, a guest-house, two workshops and two sports grounds. The children from the village may chose among the above mentioned SOS School and two public primary schools. There are two high schools (grammar school and technical school) and two hospitals in Mbalmayo.
