Our Facilities

SOS-Kinderdorf International started to take action in Morocco in 1980 when an agreement was signed with regard to the construction of the first SOS Children's Village in this country. In January 1983, construction on  SOS Children's Village Aït Ourir (southern Morocco) started. In 1985 the first children moved in. In 1986, the Moroccan SOS Children's Village Association was founded. According to tradition, its president has always been the acting Moroccan Social Minister.

In 1987, a new agreement on the construction of a second SOS Children's Village in Imzouren (north Morocco) was signed between SOS Children's Villages and the Ministry of Craft and Social Affairs. The construction was finished in 1988. In the same year the National Co-ordination Office in Casablanca was inaugurated.

This was followed by the opening of the Regional Office for North Africa in 1993. All SOS Children's Village activities concerning North Africa are handled by this office. In 1997, construction of the third SOS Children's Village in Dar Bouazza (Casablanca) was decided. It was finally finished in 2000. Beside the three SOS Children's Villages, the organisation operates several SOS Youth Facilities, SOS Kindergartens, SOS Vocational Training Centres, two SOS Schools and one SOS Social Centre in Morocco.
