Our Facilities
The work of SOS-Kinderdorf International began in 1982. In 1984, the construction work on the first SOS Children's Village Windhoek, situated in Khomasdal, one of the capital's suburbs, commenced and in 1985, the first children moved in. The SOS Children's Village Windhoek was officially opened in March 1987. In following years, the Village was supplemented with different affiliated facilities, like a SOS Primary School, SOS Youth Facilities and a SOS Vocational Training Centre.
In 1996, the construction of the SOS Children's Village Tsumeb started and in the following year, the first six family houses were ready for occupation. The official opening ceremony took place on 2 April 1998. Four additional family houses were built in 1999.
