Country information
Natitingou is the capital of the province Atacora in the north-west of the country. The SOS Children's Village was built on the outskirts of the town - in a part called Ourbouga - next to the national road leading to Djougou. It is located on one of the numerous small hills typical of the area. The center of the town is about 4 km from the SOS Children's Village. A Primary School, a Technical High School and a hospital are only 1.5 km away, the nearest market is 5,5 km away. The quarter Ourbouga is sparsely populated. There are only a few makeshift huts inhabited by poor peasants. Between these huts many poor children romp around none of which has a chance to attend school.

The SOS Children's Village consists of 10 family houses, an administrative block, a Village Director's house, a house for the SOS aunts, a multipurpose hall, a common room with kitchen and two workshops. An SOS Kindergarten and a socker ground are also part of the SOS Children's Village. In addition, the following SOS facilities have been created and are operational: SOS Primary School, SOS Youth House, SOS Training & Production Center, SOS Social Center, SOS Medical Center and an SOS Emergency Relief Programm.
