The SOS Children's Village Nelspruit is established in Kamagugu, near the city of Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, the easternmost province of South Africa. "Mpumalanga" means "place where the sun rises". The local authorities are facing more and more problems due to the ever-increasing number of child-headed households. Therefore the erection of an SOS Children's Village in this region is highly appreciated by the community.

The SOS Children's Village Nelspruit comprises 10 family houses, a village director's house, an aunts' house, a community building, a workshop and an administrative and service area. About 100 children will find a new home there. The ancillary SOS Kindergarten includes 2 group rooms and a playground and has a capacity of approx. 50 children. The SOS Kindergarten will be open to the children from the community and will have amenities for physically challenged children. Cooperation with local organisations supporting HIV/AIDS affected families is also planned.
