Our Facilities
In 1968, , the founder of SOS Children's Villages, went to Nepal and met several social workers and public figures of the country. At that time, the only NGO active in the country was the Nepal Red Cross Society, which was then chaired by the late Princess Princep Shah. During a meeting with the Princess, discussed the possibility of establishing an SOS Children's Village in Nepal. The Princess was very impressed with Mr Gmeiner's idea and established SOS Children's Villages in Nepal. In 1970, visited the country again. During this visit, a site for the first SOS Children's Village at Sanothimi was selected. The piece of land was donated by the country's government. In November 1973, the SOS Children's Village Sanothimi was inaugurated. Over the years, several SOS Children's Villages and ancillary facilities, such as SOS Kindergartens, SOS Schools and SOS Social Centres, have been erected all over the country. The SOS Children's Villages contribute a lot towards the improvement of the infrastructure in their vicinity, and the additional social facilities are a great help to the local population.
