The SOS Children's Village is located in the suburbs of the city about 2 kilometres from the centre of Oruro and consists of 12 family houses, a Community House and the SOS Kindergarten which is attended by the SOS children and children of the neighbourhood. At a few hundred metres' distance from the SOS Children's Village, there are private and public elementary schools. In the immediate vicinity are markets with all the products necessary for the daily requirements of the SOS Children's Village.
In 1996, an SOS Social Centre including an SOS Day Care Centre and a health centre, was built in addition to the SOS Children's Village. These facilities are called on above all by the families living next to the SOS Children's Village. Within the context of a re-forestation programme which was initiated in order to reduce the nitric pollution of the soil and to create a natural protection against storms, 800 trees have been planted near the SOS Children's Village.
