Legacies
Leave a gift to SOS Children's Villages and you give an abandoned child the lasting gift of a life worth living
Legacies, large and small, make a huge difference to our work. Whether you want to ensure your sponsored child or village is supported in the future or you would like to support our world wide work, the lasting difference a gift from your Will can make is tremendous.
Gifts made to charities in a will are exempt from inheritance tax and can reduce an individual's tax liability. There are three main types of legacy for making bequests to charities and each has advantages and disadvantages, according to your personal wishes and circumstances. Your solicitor, bank manager or accountant will be able to advise you.

In memoriam gifts
More and more people prefer to remember their loved ones by making a donation in their memory instead of sending flowers. If you would like us to set up an In Memoriam Fund in someone's memory, you can do this in the following ways. We can also allocate the donations to a specific project or country, perhaps a particular SOS Children's Village or country in which they had a special interest. - Collect the donations and send them to us yourself, telling us how you would like the money to be used and the name of the person you want to remember. Send to Alistair Barry, SOS Children's Villages UK, St Andrew's House, 59 St Andrew's Street, Cambridge CB2 3BZ
- Your family and friends can send their donations directly to us, by cheque or postal order made payable to SOS Children's Villages, to the address above, mentioning the person they are commemorating
- Donations can be made by credit card by calling 01223 365589
We will send a thank you letter to everyone and will be happy to let you know the amount raised and the names of people who have donated. If you have any questions about this very special way of giving, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01223 365589 or email

Payroll giving
Help change a child's world while you're at work. It's so easy. All you have to do is tell your employer how much you want to give and how often, and they will then transfer your gift to SOS Children's Villages from your pre-tax salary.
And to make your gift worth even more, the government is adding an additional 10% to all payroll donations from now until April 2004.
The work of SOS Children's Villages is long-term, so payroll giving helps us plan for the future as well as meeting immediate needs.
Ask your employer for information about payroll giving and charity nomination forms, or contact SOS Children's Villages for more information on 01223 365589 or email
