The SOS Children's Village, which is not far from the town centre, is surrounded by houses with gardens. This area is mainly inhabited by Buddhists. In the vicinity of the SOS Children's Village, there are three small primary schools and two markets, a morning market and an evening market. The SOS Children's Village Pakse is situated on Southern Highway no. 13 and is surrounded by green hills.
The SOS Children's Village Pakse consists of 12 family houses, the house of the Village Director, a Community Centre, two staff units and a house for the aunts. There is an SOS Kindergarten and an SOS School, which are both also open to children from the neighbourhood. Older children usually move to the SOS Youth Facility, where they are prepared for their independent lives. The SOS Children's Village has a training workshop and sports fields. A small farm is run by the youths and the SOS staff.
