The SOS Children's Village Poá is one of the first SOS Children's Villages in Brazil and is located in the city of the same name, about 15 kilometres east of the centre of São Paulo, a city of many million inhabitants. The SOS Children's Village was erected on a 2 hectare site, in the centre of a fertile stretch of land. It comprises 10 family houses, an administration building, a Village Director's house, a Girls' Residence and an SOS Kindergarten.
In the SOS Youth House "Reino da Garotada" that is also located on the site, vocational training and care programmes for children and young people are run. It disposes of a sewing room, a shoemaker's workshop, a printer's workshop and facilities for leather and woodwork, as well as a pottery. Furthermore, there is an SOS Day Care Centre for children between the ages of 2 months and seven years from poor families who live on the outskirts of Poá and cannot be taken care of during the day.
