The SOS Children's Village Santa Ana has been dedicated to Pope John Paul II. This SOS Children's Village, which is situated on the outskirts of the town of Santa Ana, was inaugurated in 1985. Santa Ana is located in the north-western part of the country at a distance of about 60 km from the capital of San Salvador. It is the country's second largest city (about 200,000 inhabitants).

The SOS Children's Village Santa Ana consists of the family houses, the standard community facilities of an SOS Children's Village and, in addition to that, it includes an SOS Kindergarten and an SOS Medical Centre - both facilities are open to the people from the vicinity. The older children have the opportunity to learn a number of crafts in various workshops. Schools, hospitals and markets can be reached on foot or by public transport.
