The SOS Children's Village São Bernardo do Campo is located in a wild-life reserve, about 35 kilometres southeast of São Paulo. The nearest town is Riacho Grande at a distance of about 6 kilometers with a good bus connection to the SOS Children's Village. The SOS Children's Village was built on a 2,2 hectares site next to a reservoir and was inaugurated in 1973. The SOS Children's Village comprises 10 family houses, a Village Director's house, a Youth Home and a Girls' Residence. There is a school and a kindergarten in the immediate vicinity of the SOS Children's Village. A secondary school is situated in Riacho Grande.
