The second Lebanese SOS Children's Village Sferai comprises eight family houses, built in the traditional Lebanese style, which are surrounded by cypress trees and pines. Also belonging to the Children's Village are a Village Director's house, a house for aunts with a sewing room and a pharmacy, as well as a Community House with the office, a handicraft room, a laundry and a kindergarten. There are two Youth Hostels and a Girls' Residence in Beyrouth where the young people from both SOS Children's Villages can live during the time of their vocational training or study. There was heavy fighting in the South Lebanon during the past few years. The SOS Children's Village had to suffer a great deal during these acts of war and has repeatedly been cut off from its surroundings. In spite of enormous problems the SOS Children's Village community had to put up with it has always tried to help tin the neighborhood. Many people who fled from Saida were admitted into the SOS Children's Village and given food and shelter.
