The third Korean SOS Children's Village was built in 1980 in Suncheon, in the southern part of the country. The SOS Children's Village Suncheon is located about 4 km from the city centre of Suncheon.
The SOS Children's Village consists of ten family houses, the Village Director's house and a community house. In 1994, a library was added to the SOS Children's Village, as well as a small gym and a traditional Korean communal bath. In 1995, SOS bought six apartments close to the SOS Children's Village for its older children. Teenaged children usually move to the SOS Youth Facility while they are still undergoing vocational training or attending school or college. This is their first step towards independence.
