The SOS Children's Village Tarija is situated about 3,5 kilometres from the centre of Tarija, in La Tablada, one of the few green areas of the town which have not been affected by erosion. It can be easily reached by public transport. The SOS Children's Village consists of 12 family houses and an SOS Kindergarten for 40 children, an SOS mothers house, the house of the Village Director, an SOS Social Centre, an SOS Medical Centre, 2 sports fields and a plantation for fruit-trees and ornamental trees. There are several public and private schools in Tarija and a state-run vocational training college provides the opportunity for training in various metal-processing skills for the young people. Good medical care is available, and the provision with foodstuffs and consumer goods is also ensured locally.
