The SOS Children's Village Tema consists of 15 family houses, a Community Centre, an administrative block, apartments for personnel, a Village Director's house, a Village shop and a SOS Kindergarten. In 1986 a laundry, a sports- and a playground, a house for the SOS aunts and a traditional round hut which serves as meeting place were added to the project. Within the framework of the youth resettling programme, a poultry farm and an agricultural project for self-supply were set up on a plot of land next to the SOS Children's Village. To accommodate the youths working in the project, a new SOS Youth Village was built.
In the course of time, a SOS Primary School, a SOS Training & Production Centre for Girls (with the sections: dressmaking, secretarial skills, catering departments) and a small SOS clinic - which provides medical care and first aid to SOS children, co-workers and people from the surroundings - were added to the SOS Children's Village Tema. In 1990, the International College (HGIC) was established next to the HGS. The HGIC is a well known superior academic institution of secondary education for talented students from all over Africa providing sound education and leading to an International Certificate of Secondary Education and the International Baccalaureate which gives admission to universities all over the world.
