The SOS Children's Village Tete comprises 11 Family Houses, a SOS Kindergarten, a SOS Primary and Secondary School, a farm and a bakery as well as a clinic. There are SOS Youth Facilities within the SOS Village, and also outside in Matundo and Matema. In the province of Tete severe droughts are often destroying the harvest of the whole region. As early as 1987, SOS Children's Villages started an SOS Emergency Relief Programme, providing nutritious meals for the less privileged. In the meantime this programme has already acquired traditional character and is organised by SOS girls under the supervision of their youth leader. One of the Youth Houses was finished in 1996. The boys, who moved in, had all helped with the construction of their new home. They were feeling really proud of their work and were very happy with their achievements. Another very special project within the community outreach programme is the so-called "Bush-Kindergarten", where about 100 children are being cared for in three tents by the personnel of the SOS Kindergarten in the afternoon.
