It is estimated that there are about 800 orphans in Ulaanbaatar alone, who are not provided for through the extended family system and are living either in orphanages or on the street. A suitable plot of land in a relatively well integrated part of the city was obtained for the construction of the SOS Children's Village Ulaanbaatar.
The SOS Children's Village Ulaanbaatar comprises fourteen family houses, houses for the village director and the aunties, a guesthouse, staff quarters, a community building, a multipurpose hall and a workshop.
