United in education for peace and tolerance
Whether it is carrying out an education and literacy campaign in Namibia, teacher training in Angola, HIV/AIDS prevention in schools in South America or special education programmes for primary schools in Malawi - collaboration between SOS Children's Villages and specialised local and institutional partners is self-evident.
SOS Children's Villages Spain encourages primary school children to think about social learning in a programme called "the five minutes of SOS Children's Villages". The International Colleges in Ghana and Costa Rica promote peace and tolerance education and community outreach programmes. SOS Vocational Training Centres, such as those in Nigeria, Columbia or India, seek to integrate disadvantaged youths into the labour market. All of these programmes and initiatives are supported by ministries, universities, NGOs and institutions.
SOS Children's Villages Swaziland worked with UNICEF on the worldwide educational programmes commemorating the 10th anniversary of the rights of the child. In some countries, NGOs like Save the Children grant scholarships for children in need attending SOS Schools. UNICEF and UNESCO have extended financial support towards the running of a school and kindergarten in Morocco. UNICEF, the World Bank and UNDP partner SOS Children's Villages Bolivia in education programmes and in further developing the SOS Social Centres.

SOS Children's Villages also supports the "UN Decade for Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World". During the Global Peace Games 2001, children and youth from SOS Children's Villages in India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Zambia and many others organised soccer games with local partners and signed the "UNESCO Manifesto for a culture of peace and non-violence".
