Our Facilities
The work of SOS-Kinderdorf International in Urugay began as early as in 1964 with the construction of the first SOS Children's Village in the capital of Montevideo which was inaugurated in 1967. The second SOS Children's Village Salto, situated in the north-western part of the country was opened on 4 October 1985 and in the same year a site for the construction of the third SOS Children's Village was bought in Florida. The construction of this most recent SOS project started in January 1987 and the first SOS families could move into their new homes in February 1989. The official inauguration took place on 20 March 1990 in the presence of the President of SOS-Kinderdorf International, Mr. Helmut Kutin.
