The SOS Children's Village Vontovorona consists of 12 family houses, a Village Director's House, an administration block, a house for the gardener and a workshop, as well as a Village shop. Later on, a SOS Kindergarten, teachers' accommodation, a SOS clinic, two SOS Youth Houses in Avarabohitra and sports fields were added. In order to promote self-support, each family was provided with a shed for sheep and a henhouse. For the benefit of the whole SOS Children's Village rabbit hatches, beehives, an orchard and vegetable patches were established. When constructing the SOS Children's Village consideration was taken of the traditional architectural style and culture of the island.
