SOS Children's Village associations join forces with others to work on child protection issues, either in the framework of concrete projects or legislation. Problems tackled include: street children; sexual child abuse; child prostitution, trafficking and sale; the protection of child workers; child rehabilitation and children with disabilities. |
|
To give a few examples: SOS Children's Villages Columbia participates in the "coalition against the use of child soldiers" and in an NGO network which supports displaced and refugee families. SOS Children's Villages Pakistan forms part of a national commission on protecting girls. SOS Children's Villages Namibia supports a women and child rights programme with UNDP and the National Ministry.
SOS Children's Village associations emphasise the importance of exchange with others and often participate in or organise workshops and conferences on issues related to child protection, for example with UNICEF or other NGOs.
